Lesson Development
Paraphrase 0f  the Poem
ü  Stanza 1: The persona is now old, tired and weak. He was a soldier who fought for independence or freedom (a freedom fighter). He is sacrificed and suffered a lot for his country independence.
ü  Stanza 2: The persona is in a wheelchair. Maybe, he was badly wounded and crippled when he fought for independence or he is very sick. Now, he is worried about challenges and deceit in his country. There is deceit like cheating and corruption everywhere. But he can only sit and watch what is going on around him. He cannot fight anymore because he is powerless. Nobody listens to him.
ü  Stanza 3: The persona wants the younger generation (sons of our ancestor) to be brave and stand up for their freedom. He wants them to unite and fight for justice. He tells them to protect this country from threats and problems like corruptions.
ü  Stanza 4: The persona says nobody will listen to him because he is old and powerless now. He demands that the young people speak up for justice and freedom.

Recently there was an inter-school netball match between your school and a neighbouring school. As a reporter for a school newsletter, write a report about the match.

Objectives of the lesson
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1.       Read the question carefully what kind of report you are asked to write on. Is it a newspaper report, a book report, a police report, a report of an event/activity?
2.       Whatever the report, there are some common features:
-          Facts are presented based on evidence.
-          The information provided can easily be checked out.
-          The information presented must be as objectives as possible. Only facts should be presented,
-          The report is often signed and therefore the person who signs the report is responsible for the contents of the report.
3.       When you write a report, asked yourself the following questions:
-          What are you writing about?
-          What is the purpose of the report?
-          Who is going to read the report?
4.       Give your report a title.
5.       Write your point in logical order. Use sentence connectors such as First/Then/Next/After that/ Finally
 
Lesson Development
1.       Introduction (Brief Details)
-          On Wednesday, 3 April 2014, at 4.00 p.m, SMK Serian and SMK Tarat played an inter-school match at our school netball court
-          District quarter-finals and winner would move into semi-finals
-          So was important game to our school
2.       Body/Content:
-          Our team warming up when opponents arrived
-          Arrived with 2 buses of supports/ cheering squad also got out of the bus- kept singing “Go Girls Go”
-          Our school also had good turnout of supports
-          Game started – both teams were well matched
-          For each point a team scored, other team also scored
-          By half-time, score was a draw at 15-15
-          At break- both coaches gave pep talk to their teams
-          When players returned to court, game became more aggressive
-          Referee had a blow many times for fouls committed by both teams
-          Cheering on both sides was deafening
3.       Conclusion:
-          Towards last five minutes, game became most exciting
-          No one was scoring-could see both teams were wasting time hanging on to ball
-          Then at last minute, we score and other team lost
-          Score was 28-29
-          What a sad day for the opponents but happy day for us
-          Never mind, girls! Try again next year. Anyway congratulations to our team’
-          (signature)
